THE government of President Marcos continues to show its genuine concern over the welfare of public servants and their families.

In fact, starting next year, state workers will get the first two of a four-tranche wage hike, drawing cheers from various sectors.

The salary increase will be taken from the proposed 2025 national budget, according to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

Next year’s budget also includes P9.6 billion for a medical allowance of P7,000 each for government personnel, the DBM said.

Both the pay increase and the medical allowance were promised by President Marcos in his first state-of-the-nation address in 2022.

DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said the four-tranche salary hike totaling P70 billion will be taken from the proposed 2025 budget.

“We wanted to start the four tranches this year and spread (it) over the (next) four years – so it’s from 2024 to 2027,” she added.

The Marcos government is on the right track in ensuring the welfare of not only government workers but also those in the private sector.
