IN a display of bravery, the crew of a 44-meter-long vessel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) shadowed last Saturday a ship of the China Coast Guard (CCG) in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).

The officers and men of BRP Cabra were not intimidated by the 134-meter CCG vessel, with bow number 5303

Reports said BRP Cabra shadowed the Chinese vessel until the latter was pushed back to approximately 95 nautical miles off the coast of Zambales.

PCG spokesman Commodore Jay Tarriela lauded the crewmen of BRP Cabra for showing “a remarkable display of determination and commitment to national sovereignty.”

“Kahit sakay sila ng maliit na barko ay ipinakita ng ating mga kababayan na handa nilang ipaglaban ang ating mga interest sa WPS,” a former said.

What is going for us Filipinos is the all-out support of the administration of President Marcos in the country’s fight against Chinese aggression.

We agree with various quarters that there is a need for the Philippines to strengthen its relations with friendly nations.

Particularly the United States, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Israel, Canada and the European nations.

We need the support of our allies in the international community if we are to survive as a nation.
