MARIVELES, Bataan — Bataeños lauded the GN Power Mariveles Energy Center Ltd. Co. (GMEC) for turning over two completed projects for two barangays here.
In a statement, Arcel Madrid, GMEC assistant vice president for community relations, said GN Power donated a covered plaza in Barangay Baseco Country and a multi-purpose hall in Barangay Sisiman, two villages located near the coal power plant operated by GMEC.
“I am glad to be able to witness another successful social development program,” Madrid told this writer.
GN Power has been donating infrastructure projects in Bataan. The company was also active in providing social services and donating food at the height of the pandemic, among others.
In a statement to newsmen, Baseco Country barangay chairwoman Leonida Valderama thanked GN Power and hoped that more projects will be undertaken in her village.
During the turnover of the Sisiman multi-purpose hall, Madrid stressed the importance of stimulating education through the Alternative Learning Center and empowering the youth. He added that the new hall will benefit the Sangguniang Kabataan of the seaside barangay.
