A 7-year-old child was severely injured after she was badly beaten by the mother of her playmate for no apparent reason in Caloocan City.

In his report to Northern Police District (NPD) Acting District Director P/Col. Josefino Ligan, Caloocan police chief P/Col. Edcille Canals said the incident happened at around 11:45 a.m. on Friday at the suspect’s residence on Sikatuna Extension, Urduja Village, Barangay 172, Caloocan City.

The victim went to the residence of her playmate to play with her when she was grabbed by the suspect, dragged inside the toilet, and repeatedly banged her head in the toilet bowl before she was slammed to the floor.

The suspect’s brother, who heard his niece scream rushed inside his sister’s house and saw the victim bloodied lying on the floor prompting him to call the child’s father who rushed her daughter to Camarin Doctor’s Hospital.

Police said the child underwent a surgical operation and is still in critical condition.

Col. Canals said Hillcrest Police Substation 8 led by Pat Beverly M. Caguindagan and Pat Jesabeth M. Donato responded to the scene and arrested of suspect identified as alias “Rowella”.

Col Ligan said he already instructed the police to file charges for frustrated murder under Article 248 of the Revised Penal Code against Rowella, who was allegedly suffering from a mental disorder.
