Girl, 14, ‘raped’ by FB chatmate
Suspect asks for nude pics, videos; ‘blackmails’ victim
A MAN accused of raping a 14-year old minor inside a motel in Manila last August 13 was arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group in an entrapment operation on Saturday evening, PNP-ACG director, Brigadier General Joel B. Doria said.
Suspect Junelee Talisay de Guzman,32, was placed under arrest inside the Balay sa Ciudad Lodging House located along Quezon Boulevard in Quiapo, Manila around 8:45 p.m. Saturday, said the official.
Doria said the suspect’s arrest came after he asked his teenage victim to meet him again in a motel last Saturday. The terrified victim sought the help of the Eastern District Anti-Cybercrime Team in apprehending the suspect.
The official said their investigation showed the victim met the suspect on Facebook where he used the picture of a handsome guy as his ‘profile picture.’
The ‘handsome photo’ aroused the interest of the teenager who later exchanged messages with the suspect until he managed to convince her to send her nude photos and videos.
“After getting the nude photos and videos of the victim, the suspect blackmailed her into meeting him. He also threatened to upload those videos in the internet if she won’t meet and have sex with him” said Brig. Gen. Doria.
Last Saturday or 14 days after he first sexually abused the teenager, the suspect again demanded for a 2nd meeting which prompted the teenager to seek the help of the PNP-ACG in arresting the sex predator.
“Once again, I would like to remind the public to be extra careful of what you share on social media especially private photos and videos. Once it reaches the hands of sexual predators, unwanted consequences may occur,” Doria said.
“I also appeal to parents of minors, please supervise the online activities of your children. Safeguarding your children’s safety is not solely the responsibility of the PNP but yours as well,” he added.
Doria said the suspect will be facing criminal charges for statutory rape and violation of Republic Act 9775 or child pornography, grave threat, grave coercion and RA 7610 or child abuse, all in relation to RA 10175 of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
The accused is now being held at the PNP-ACG lock-up facility in Camp Crame.
