GenTri to feature beauty pageant, marching band competition

To mark founding, cityhood anniversary

GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite – After being temporarily suspended by the local government here for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the “Binibining GenTri” and the “Grand Pasayo” will be returning as the highlights of the 7th cityhood and 274th founding anniversary on December 12 and 13, 2022.

Pretty lasses from 20 out of 33 barangays are vying for the crown of Binibining GenTri 2022 as reigning title holder Bb. Gentri 2019 Rachel Shania Juson from Dulong Bayan will translate the plum on coronation night on December 9, 2022, at General Trias Cultural and Convention Center in Barangay Sampalukan.

General Trias City First Lady Monette Ferrer introduced the candidates at the flag ceremony in Barangay Bagumbayan on Nov. 21, 2022.

While the Grand Pasayo, marching band parade, and drill will unfurl on December 13, with seven local bands and ten completing bands from various parts of Cavite.

Among those who will play and provide fun are the host bands from GenTri: Banda Matanda, Banda Kabataan, St. Francis Band, Sta. Cecilia Band 89, Community Wind Ensemble, Sta. Veronica Band, and Banda Malabon 2000.

Competing Bands for Grand Pasayo 2022 are Banda El. Gobernador (Bacoor), Holy Rosary Youth Band (Rosario), Music Foundation Band of Dasmarinas, Banda 74 (Kawit), Saint Joseph Band 98 (Bailen), Primero Uno Band (Maragondon), Saint Jude Band 90 (Maragondon), St. Mary Magdalene Band (Kawit), St. Agustine Band Association (Tanza), and Citizens Brigade Band of Dasmarinas.

General Trias is well known for being the first marching band (Banda San Francisco de Malabon) to play the Philippine National Anthem, “Lupang Hinirang”. Mayor Luis Ferrer IV, Cavite 6th District Congressman Antonio Ferrer, Vice Mayor Jonas Labuguen, Cavite 6th District Board Members Kerby Salazar and Morit Sison, and city officials will lead the flower offering at the historical monument of General Mariano Trias on December 13, 2022.
