Gen-set worth P.5-M stolen from Smart cell site in Ecija
GUIMBA, Nueva Ecija – Unidentified men stole a generator-set (gen-set) worth P.5-million from the cell site station of Smart Communications here on Sunday.
The theft happened at a Smart cell site at Medina Street in Barangay Sto. Cristo.
Rolly Bulatao, a security guard, told police he learned of the robbery when he reported for his 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. duty at 6:40 a.m. Sunday.
Stolen was a Denyo 45KVA diesel generator set, whose approximate weight is 1000 kilograms and worth about P500,000.
Bulatao told police head Lt. Col. Jectopher D. Haloc that the suspects gained entry inside the compound by destroying the gate padlocks using a bolt cutter.
The generator, which has a size bigger than a tricycle, was believed carted away by the suspects by using a boom or crane truck.
Police are still investigating and conducting follow-up operations for the possible arrest of the suspects.
