ANGELI Pangilinan-Valenciano, `Mr. Pure Energy’ Gary Valenciano’s wife and business manager (for forty years) updated her media friends the other night before and after the concert ng kanyang mister na hindi na tinapos ang unang gabi (December 20) due to his health condition.

“Gary’s vitals are all normal just serious dehydration after he ate or took something that caued him to throw-up so many times,” panimula ni Angeli sa kanyang media friends chat group.

“We didn’t want him to do the show but he wanted to do it. He did about 7-8 songs and asked the crowd if it was okay for him to end the show early. Please tell fans not to worry. My cousin Dr. Chad Hizon was his doctor and sat beside me during the show, he didn’t want him to do the show but Gary still wanted to do it,” dugtong pa niya.

Kahapon ng umaga, muling nagbahagi si Angeli ng mensahe sa kanyang media friends chat group.

“The grace of God was upon him. My cousin nephrologist Dr. Chad Dizon was coming to the concert but I requested him to come earlier and did all the pre-concert consultation together with teleconsults with the doctors endocrinologist Michael Villa and cardiologists Rod Castro and Enrique Posas. Chad sat beside me in the front row monitoring him and he shook his head saying “This is unbelievable…how can he do this?” song after song. He couldn’t even stand properly for 2 minutes before he went onstage! Paolo (Valenciano) the director kept crying tells his Papa… “it’s your call now Papa…you sing what you can and stop when you feel you need to end the concert….” Dr. Villa said. He cannot do this concert unless he has drip that would balance his electrolytes. He could go into diabetic ketoacidosis,” patuloy ni Dr. Hizon.

“I’m trying to find a vein but his veins have collapsed due to dehydration.”

“Then I called our pastor Ed de Guzman who prayed over him. In 5 minutes after his prayer – Dr. Chad got the vein and he got the drip! Thirty minutes later he was on stage singing “Shout for Joy,” “That’s Why,” “Eto na Naman,” “Di Na Natuto,” ‘Everybody Get Down,’ “Favor of the Lord,” “Natutulog Ba Ang Diyos,” “Warrior is a Child” and “Take Me Out of the Dark.”

“Imagine that 8 songs…am awake in the hospital thanking God. Cory Vidanes, Gina Tabuena-Godinez, Veana Araneta Fores came to the hospital immediately after as well as his sister Gina Martinez who just flew in from the USA yesterday!

“He went from the stage to the stretcher of the Lifeline ambulance that administered a drip prior to the concert.”

“Amazing! Literally divine strength! Praise the Lord! His power is unstoppable in Gary!”

Last Saturday night was not the best for Gary and his team dahil sa masamang kundisyon ng kanyang health. He was throwing up many times and got hydrated. Backstage, halos lahat ng tao ay nag-panic habang walang idea ang audience who eagerly awaited for him to come out on stage and perform.

Kung si Dr. Hizon ang nasunod, he does not want Gary V. to perform that evening dahil sa health condition nito pero hindi umano pumayag si Gary kahit alam niyang hindi kaya ng kanyang katawan. Kahit ang kanyang anak na si Paolo Valenciano na siyang director ng concert ay umiyak dahil sa kundisyon ng ama.

Hirap si Gary pero sa kabila nito ay tumayo siya pumunta sa gitna ng stage as if it was a health challenge na pinagdadaanan backstage. Pero bago siya lumabas ng entablado ay nag-usap sila ng kanyang panganay na si Paolo na hindi na nila susundin ang sequencing ng mga songs na kanyang kakantahin that evening at nag-suggest siya ng ilang songs (7 to 8 songs) to sing at kinanta niya ang “Shout for Joy,” “That’s Why,” “Eto Na Naman,” “Everybody Get Down,” “Favor of the Lord” “Natutulog Ba Ang Diyos,” “Warrior is a Child” and “Take Me Out of the Dark,” mga awiting akmang-akma sa kanyang nararamdaman at that very moment. During this time, he addressed the audience kung puwedeng hindi na niya tatapusin ang concert because of what he was going through that time. Dito lamang naramdaman ng audience that something was wrong with him.

In our exclusive interview with Gary V. sa aming “TicTALK with Aster Amoyo” on my YouTube channel, inamin niya na kahit gustong-gusto pa niyang mag-concert in big venues just like before, his body dictates na hindi na kaya ng kanyang katawan. He has type 1 diabetes since he was a teen-ager, underwent heart and kidney surgery at iba’t ibang health challenges pero nalalagpasan niya ito lahat dahil na rin sa kanyang strong faith sa Panginoon.

While he assures his fans that he will continue performing pero hindi na umano sa malalaking venue tulad nitong final two-night concert niya sa Araneta Coliseum, ang “Pure Energy: One More Time” na magiging culimination na ng kanyang pagpi-perform in major venues.

Allthough he was rushed to the hospital matapos niyang hindi tapusin ang kanyang concert last Saturday, umaasa siya that he will be 100% okey when he faces the audience tonight.

Gary V. felt sorry na hindi niya naibigay ang 100% performance level niya at hindi niya natapos ang concert, he prays na magiging okey na siya ngayong gabi.

Nagpapasalamat din si Gary V. sa lahat ng taong nanood ng first night sa kabila ng hindi niya natapos ang concert dahil sa kanyang health concern.

Sa kabila ng nangyari last Saturday night, klinaro ni Gary V. na hindi pa umano siya magre-retire sa concert stage. Magre-retire lamang siya sa pagkakaroon ng major solo concerts sa malalaking venues.

Buong pamilya kasama ni Bea sa Christmas in Spain

FOR the first time ay hindi sa Pilipinas magi-spend ng Christmas ang Kapuso star na si Bea Alonzo. This time ay gagawin na niya ito sa Madrid, Spain kung saan siya nakabili ng apartment unit. Hindi mag-isa si Bea dahil kasama niya ang kanyang inang si Mary Anne Ranollo, his brother and wife maging ang kanyang pamangkin.

Excited si Bea and her family na first time ding magsi-celebrate ng Pasko sa ibang bansa.

Kung si Bea ay nag-invest ng property in Madrid, Spain, si Heart Evangelista naman ay bumili rin ng sariling apartment in Italy kung saan siya madalas pumunta.

Last wake para kay Ed

NGAYONG araw ng Linggo, December 22 ang last wake ng ating kaibigan at kasamahan sa panulat na si Ed de Leon na sumakabilang-buhay last Wednesday, December 18 dahil sa atake sa puso.

Ang wake ni Ed ay sa Rm. 205 – Annex Bldg. ng St. Peter’s Chapels- Quezon Avenue in Quezon City.

Naiwan ni Ed ang kanyang natitirang buhay na kapatid na si Elvira at pamangkin na si Grace Dino na siyang nag-asikaso ng lahat. Ang iba niyang mga pamangkin sa iba niyang mga yumaong kapatid ay lahat nasa ibang bansa.

Ayon sa kapatid na si Elvira, pitong beses na umano na-stroke si Ed at pangalawang cardiac arrest.

Ed was born on April 25, 1955 at pumanaw nung December 18, 2024. He was 69.

Ang cremation ay naka-schedule ngayong Lunes, December 23 at 1 p.m. habang ang kanyang mga abo ay ilalagak sa La Loma Columbarium.
