HOUSE Deputy Minority Leader and Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin on Wednesday announced on Wednesday that she tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“Despite following the minimum health protocols and being extra cautious, I tested positive for COVID-19,” said Garin, a doctor and Health secretary during the Aquino administration. “It is fortunate that I am fully vaccinated.”

Garin admitted she has pre-existing medical conditions and hoped that her case will continue to be mild.

“I can sleep soundly with the hope that this will not be severe despite my pre-existing conditions: asthma, hypertension and Raynaud’s disease,” Garin said.

Upon the advice of her doctor, Garin said she will undergo home quarantine.

“As of the moment, I was advised by my doctor to be on home quarantine as my symptoms are mild. Mayroon akong sipon, ubo, lagnat, at chills. Hindi naman apektado ang aking pang-amoy at panlasa. Ngunit under strict monitoring pa rin dahil ako ay tachycardic (mabilis na pagtibok ng puso),” Garin said.

Garin said she already informed the persons whom she had close contact with.

“I have messaged those who have been exposed to me since Monday to quarantine and watch out for symptoms,” she said.

“Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng nagdadasal para sa aking kalusugan at recovery. Stay safe, everyone,” Garin added.
