MABALACAT CITY – Mayor Crisostomo Garbo gave a stern warning against drug pushers in the city to “back off.”

This message was relayed through City Information Officer Jay Pelayo IV after the Mabalacat Police “neutralized” some of the suspects in killing two local police officers last week.

“Huwag na kayong pumasok dito dahil matindi ang direktiba ko. Since I took over as the mayor, wala ni isa ang naipakiusap sa akin regarding sa droga o sa sugal,” Garbo, saying the perpetrators trying to “pose a bribe” in exchange of protection from the local government.

The Mabalacat City government has consistently conducted regular assemblies with its “Peace and Order Council,” which consists of various departments and government agencies like the DILG (Department of the Interior and Local Government), PNP (Philippine National Police), PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency), BFP (Bureau of Fire Protection), Barangay officials, and other local authorities.

In January, the city’s Anti-Drug Abuse Council was awarded as “one of the best” councils by the PDEA for its exemplary duties, complementing the national government’s anti-illegal drugs campaign.
