GABRIELA Women’s Party on Monday led the distribution of relief packs to nearly 200 families in Bgy. Calumpang, Marikina City as it reiterated the call for a P10,000 “ayuda” for all Filipino families.

House Assistant Minority Leader and GWP Rep. Arlene Brosas said the activity aims to respond the urgent need of lockdown-stricken families for food, especially as the national government’s cash aid for the enganced community quarantine (ECQ) is not enough.

“This is how women in communities are collectively ensuring food for our kababayans as the slow release of cash aid will hardly make an impact amid rising prices, depressed incomes and massive joblessness,” Brosas said.

“Kaya patuloy namin iginigiit na ipasa na ang panukalang Bayanihan 3 at gawing P10,000 ang probisyong ayuda para sa lahat ng pamilya dahil may sapat na pondo naman. Hindi lang ginagamit ng rehimeng Duterte sa tama,” she added.

Brosas argued that unspent funds of different government agencies must be used to augment the ECQ cash aid expand mass testing and increase the benefits of frontline healthworkers.

Local chapters of Gabriela Women’s Party mobilized community members to ensure that the activity complies with the prescribed health and safety protocols.

A petition was also circulated demanding the P10,000 cash aid for all Filipino families.
