GABBY Concepcion gifted his ex-wife and loveteam partner Sharon Cuneta two rings while they were in a concert tour last year. There was nothing romantic with the rings. They were actually friendship rings.

“I had to go to the mall to get her a ring,” Gabby shared. “I actually gave her two rings. I don’t know her ring size anymore, but the more important one is the mWell ring.”

Gabby is a wellness ambassador of mWell. The ring tracks sleep, heart rate and other heart movements. But Gabby promotes the mWell watch.

Meanwhile, also last year, Sharon gifted Gabby with special eyeglasses for color blindness and he regularly uses them. He was even wearing them for his recent pictorial for mWell watches.

“She made me wear those glasses para makita ko daw siya ng malinaw,” Gabby said of the special glasses. “I really appreciated those glasses because I really can’t identify green without them.

That’s better.”

The start of the “Dear Heart” concert tour in the US and Canada undoubtedly renewed the Sharon-Gabby friendship. “From that point on until now, I can see that Sharon holds the teddy bear given to us and that cherishes our friendship.”

Gabby recently came out with his personalized mWell watches. “You can monitor your health in that watch,” Gabby said. “How many hours of sleep you did. I used to have a smart watch, but I found out, limited ang features. Even the Apple watch, limited din ang features.

“Marami ng pumasok sa fingers ko, but I didn’t like them. (Laughs) Lahat ng nangyari ngayon, kwentuhan lang pero baka mag-viral ito. Healthy is the new interpretation of looking good or being handsome. That’s the new definition. Of how you feel and what you should do.”

Gabby turned 60 in November last year, while he and Sharon were on tour. “Alam niyo, hindi ko pa nararanasan ang mid-life crisis,” he said. “I want to experience that because I don’t know what that feels.

“Somebody needs to explain to me what mid-life crisis is in a nutshell. I take things lightly. I always remember what my father told me. ‘Nandyan ka na lang din, galingan mo na.’ I’m not always successful, but I try.”

“Anything can happen to me,” Gabby added. “I can talk about all the good things about health, but there is always something that can happen. Life is short. We need to do the best we can while we have the time.

“We don’t have to regret one day and tell ourselves, ‘I should have done this.’ So, now, we should avoid anything (bad) that can happen to us. And if you will love somebody, loving is a part of life.

We need to feel that.

“All out mo na. If something happens, that’s all part of the cycle. If the guy loves you more than you love him, for me, that’s better. Love is both way, two ways. I don’t know what your relationship with that guy or that girl. Whatever it is, you have to enjoy the moment. Be happy. Always be happy.”

Gabby’s eldest, KC, will turn 40 this April. “I don’t look KC that way,” Gabby said. “To me, KC is still 12 years old. She will always be my baby.“

They don’t have any big plans yet for her birthday. “She is not mentioning anything,” Gabby said. “She always says, ‘Let’s go to Batangas.’ We spend quality time there.”

KC introduces to her dad some of the guys she went into a relationship with in the past. “What is important to me, the point na parang nililigawan din ako,” Gabby said. “Ang sarap ng feeling if a guy tells me he’s going out with my daughter. One hundred points sa akin ‘yun.”

Did anybody get 100 points from Gabby when it comes to the guys KC got into a relationship with?

“Actually meron na,” the dad said. “Non-showbiz. Once makilala ang father, I’ll find the courage to tell him that I’m courting his daughter or I’m in a relationship with his daughter. Mabait siya. Sana all.”

KC prefers to spend time in Lobo, Batangas, where Gabby has a rest house. KC gets to bond not just with her dad in Batangas, but sometimes, even with her younger sisters, Maria Samantha and Mari Savannah, Gabby’s daughters with Genevieve Yatco Gonzales.

Gabby negates that he and Sharon will go on tour again this year. Last year, they went to the US and Canada and were away for nearly two months to delight their fans half-way across the globe.

“We have nothing planned this year,” disclosed Gabby. “We don’t know if the concerts we planned to do abroad will push through.

“I am starting a teleserye (on GMA Network) and that will end in November. I need to work on that because I’m under contract with GMA. I need to finish that. We will tape four times a week.”

There is no chance for him to do a new film this year. “We’ve been discussing that, but there’s no story yet,” Gabby said. “There’s no oomph factor to me. ‘Yung nabasa mo na ang script then wala ka pang makita, that has to be revised.

“That’s why I always request when we do story conference. To have that kilig factor. I don’t choose who I want to work with. If there’s an offer for me to do a May-December affair, importante rin ang role. But really, the most important is the story. I don’t have to play the lead, as long as the story is good.”

Time and again, Gabby is being wooed to enter politics, but no one has convinced him yet again. In 1988, he previously ran for mayor in San Juan, where he hails from. Neither is he supporting any politician at this point.

“Politics was actually a dream once upon a time,” Gabby said. “Pero hindi ko tinuloy, because I didn’t find the urge. Many are still inviting me to run. But politics is very sensitive. Mas gusto ko ang tahimik na buhay.

“My advocacy is to promote the capacity ng wellness. What it can do for all of us. I don’t mind sharing the benefits of wellness. mWell is not only this gadget. It is part of the umbrella of wellness. Everybody will get the chance to have better medical and health opportunities.”

In his lifetime, Gabby once aspired to become a pilot, but because of his poor eyesight, that did not happen. He also wanted to become a dentist and a successful real estate broker. The last one, he got to do while he was in the US for a few years.

“Acting, showbiz and singing, those are in my bucket list,” said Gabby. “When I’m not busy, you’ll find me in nature, enjoying the beach, nakedly happy. Ang ganda ng environment sa Lobo (Batangas). Life is short. Enjoy every moment.”
