Fully vaccinated cop PNP’s 110th COVID-19 death

A FULLY-VACCINATED 52-year old policeman from Western Visayas yesterday was recorded as the 110th COVID-19 fatality in the Philippine National Police.

PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said that the policemen from the Police Regional Office 6 was rushed to a hospital in Iloilo City last September 9 after experiencing difficulty in breathing. On the same day, he passed away due to cardiac arrest and pneumonia.

A post mortem examination and swab test was done on the deceased cop, which yielded a positive result of COVID-19.

The PNP Health Service said that the cop completed his vaccine last August 3.

“I would like to extend the PNP’s sincerest condolences to the bereaved family and assure them that all benefits and assistance will be given,” Eleazar said.

The death of the 110th COVID-19 victim in the PNP came even as the PNP-HS headed by Brig. Gen. Antonino Cirujales recorded an additional 229 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the PNP, bringing the total number of police personnel who have contracted the virus to 37,566 since March last year.

The PNP-HS is also monitoring a total of 2,685 ‘active COVID-19 cases.

The same unit, however, recorded 189 new recoveries, raising the total number of PNP personnel who have recovered from the sickness and are now back to full duty status to 34,771 since last year.

“Sa ating mga pulis, dobleng pag-iingat pa rin ang gawin kahit kayo ay kumpleto na ng bakuna lalo na ang mga nasa frontline,” Eleazar said.
