Fruit vendor shot dead in Batangas

A 28-YEAR-OLD fruit vendor died after being shot at close range by a fellow vendor in Alitagtag, Batangas Wednesday morning.

Alitagtag Municipal Police Station (MPS) chief Captain Ernie Bilog Delos Santos identified the victim as Alvin Lisaba y Barquilla, single, and the suspect as Benson Tordecilla y Villanueva, 35, married, both vendors and residents of Bgy. Poblacion 3, in Sta Teresita town.

Around 6:20 a.m. on August 25, a telephone call was received by Alitagtag MPS from a concerned citizen that there was a shooting incident that transpired at Bgy. Muzon 1st.

Case officer P/SSg Adrian Marasigan Caton’s initial investigation showed that at around 6:15 a.m. of the same date, Tordecilla was seen on board a blue Kawasaki motorcycle and arrived at his stall where he was selling fruits.

Moments later, Lisaba also arrived and when about to approach the suspect, the latter quickly drew a short firearm and shot the victim several times in different parts of the body.

The suspect immediately sped away on board his motorcycle heading towards Cuenca, with his spouse identified as Katherine Tordecilla y Castillo, police said.

The victim was immediately brought to Bauan Doctors General Hospital in Bauan, Batangas for treatment but was pronounced dead upon arrival by the attending physician.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives team processed the scene.
