Fire1FOUR died, including a mother, her child, her nephew, and brother-in-law while two were injured in a fire of still undetermined origin that hit a residential area Saturday before dawn in Pasay City.

Pasay police chief P/Col. Samuel Pabonita in his text message said the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) found the bodies of a 34-year-old mother, her 7-year-old son, her 14-year-old nephew, and 40-year-old brother-in-law in the rubble of burnt houses near the creak on Benita Esteban St., Feliciano Compound, in Barangay 177, Malibay.

Col. Pabonita also identified the injured victims as alias “Irish” 58, who suffered first degree burn in her right hand, and alias “Gabriel” 18, who sustained laceration on the right foot. The two were sent home after receiving treatment by the BFP medical emergency team.

Pasay BFP Information Officer SFO1 Resmond Germino said the fire struck at around 4:31 a.m. and was raised to third alarm before it was declared fire out at around 7:23 a.m.

Arson investigators are still determining the cause of the fire that destroyed more or less P1.2 million worth of properties.

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano already instructed the City Social Welfare and Development to provide necessary assistance to around 50 families affected by the fire and are now temporarily staying at the Malibay Covered Court.
