A 63-year-old former city accountant was killed by unidentified armed men yesterday morning after attending a barangay meeting held at Sitio Pagasa, Bgy. Sto Tomas, Biñan City, Laguna.

Biñan City police chief, PLt. Col. Giovanni Martinez said the slain victim was identified as Virgilio Dimaranan of South City, Sto Tomas, Biñan City.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital due to serious wounds in his body from an unknown caliber pistol.

The victim was allegedly known in the city as the “king maker” in their barangay.

Initial investigation conducted by the Biñan police said that the ambush incident transpired past 12 noon after the victim was about to leave the meeting place.

“Nung mag resign siya bilang city accountant ay nagtungo sa America, dahil medyo maiinit na ito sa pulitika,” a source said who requested anonymity.

His barangay captain relative was also ambushed last February 17, 2020.
