Food poisoning downs 151 SK officials in Subic seminar
AT least 151 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials attending a seminar in a hotel at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone on Tuesday were hospitalized allegedly due to food poisoning.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., the Subic police said the victims were SK officials from San Carlos City, Pangasinan attending a Gender Awareness Sensitivity seminar being held at Subic Bay Travellers Hotel located on Raymundo St. in Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
Initial probe showed that the 151 seminar attendees were served food for lunch.
One of the victims, a SK kagawad of Bgy. Inerangan, San Carlos City, Pangasinan told probers that they ate menudo, fried chicken, chopsuey, and drank water.
Moments later, the participants experienced severe stomach pain, diarrhea, and vomiting. They were rushed to different hospitals for treatment.
Food samples from the hotel were taken by the police forensics team for testing.
The Subic police and the Olongapo City Health Office are conducting an investigation into the incident.
