Flying Titans soar
CHOCO Mucho went through the wringer before defeating Galeries Tower, 27-29, 25-20, 25-19, 17-25, 15-12, to enter the win column last night in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.
Kat Tolentino was solid for the second straight match while rookie Lorraine Pecaña had an impressive defensive outing as the Flying Titans improved to 1-1 in the young season.
Tolentino was on point with 27 points on 20-of-58 kills attacks and seven blocks and collected 10 digs for Choco Mucho.
Pecaña was also the difference maker, as the former Arellano University standout, filling a huge void left by Maddie Madayag, matched Tolentino’s seven blocks to finish with 10 points.
Sisi Rondina hammered 19 kills including the match winner and had eight receptions, while Cherry Nunag contributed 14 points for the Flying Titans. Both missed the Reinforced Conference due to Alas Pilipinas commitments.
The Highrisers fell to 0-2, but were able made good account of themselves courtesy of rookie playmaker Julia Coronel and libero Alyssa Eroa.
Jewel Encarnacion led Galeries Tower with 18 points and 11 receptions while Ysa Jimenez scored 13 points.
