NATIONAL Irrigation Administration Laguna Rizal Irrigation Management Office (NIA-LRIMO) welcomed their new regional manager in a simple turnover ceremony at the NIA Region IV-A New Training Center, Pila, Laguna, Thursday, September 1, 2022.

In a ceremony presided by NIA IV-A Regional Manager Engr. Wilson Lopez, outgoing Division Manager Engr. Fidel Martinez passed on the “baton of leadership” of NIA LRIMO to incoming Division Manager Engr. Armando Flores.

For more than three years, Engr. Martinez has served the IMO as division manager while Engr. Flores worked as the Sr. Engineer A of Operations and Maintenance Section (O&M) before being designated to Laguna Rizal IMO.

Engr. Martinez extends his gratitude to NIA Region IV-A, in particular with Laguna-Rizal IMO, for the unwavering support during his stewardship of said office. He also emphasized all the knowledge and experiences gained, leading to improved leadership and decision-making skills.

“Sa kabila ng lahat ng balakid at pagsubok dahil sa pandemiya, nais kong pasalamatan kayong lahat at tinulungan niyo ako na maitaguyod ang serbisyo natin para sa mga magsasaka ng probinsya ng Laguna at Rizal,” he said.

With the turnover ceremony, Engr. Flores has formally assumed the duties and responsibilities of the LRIMO division manager. In his speech, he expressed his gratitude to the management and took the leadership “as a challenge and opportunity” to hone his management skill.

“Nagpapasalamat ako kay Administrator Benny Antiporda at RM Wilson Lopez sa tiwalang ipinagkaloob nila sa akin. Hindi ko rin naman makakamit yung ganitong klase ng position kung wala ang guidance ng management at support ng aking mga kasamahan sa IMO,” he added.

Lopez commended the performance of Engr. Martinez and highlighted the contribution of NIA LRIMO in the agency’s drive towards agricultural productivity in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon).

He also expressed his confidence in the incoming leadership headed by Engr. Flores with the instruction of leading the IMO office with “commitment and integrity”.

“Set a good example para sa ating mga kasamahan. Let us initiate teamwork, and humbly ask for support. Gaya ng laging binabanggit ng ating NIA Administrator ‘puso at malasakit’ lang ang maging guiding principles natin para muling ma-i-angat ang sektor ng agrikultura at kabuhayan ng ating magsasaka,” said Lopez.

Said leadership turnover is anchored with NIA Memorandum Circular Nos. 113 and 114 series of 2022 stating the reassignment of Engr. Martinez to NIA Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO) and designation of Engr. Flores to Laguna-Rizal IMO, respectively.

The said memoranda were approved and signed by NIA Administrator Benny Antiporda last August 25.
