TANZA, Cavite – Two people were arrested by the elements Tanza Drug Enforcement Team in Barangay Bucal, Tanza, in Cavite Sunday, September 18, 2022,

Local police said the “FlipTop” Battle League rap artist with the alias “Papew” and his accomplice, alias “Kakay” were arrested during a buy-bust operation.

A poseur buyer bought drugs from the main suspect, “Kakay” in exchange for a P1,500 marked money for two packets of shabu.

The two admitted that they “jammed” together or that they used drugs at the same time. According to “Papew”, he started using drugs in 2009.

The rap artist admitted that he was “loaded” with shabu during his FlipTop “battles” from 2010-2012.

Papew temporarily disappeared from the freestyle rap scene and returned to the FlipTop in 2018. While taking care of his printing business, he is said to have lost money and allegedly “argued” with his wife often toward the onset of the pandemic in 2020.

It can be recalled that some well-known names in the FlipTop Battle League were also caught in drug operations, including Loonie, J-King, J-Skeelslz, and Andy G, who Papew even fought in the FlipTop “rap battle”.

The arrested suspects are charged with violating Sec. 5 and 11 of RA 9165 or illegal possession of illegal drugs by the Tanza Police Office.
