THE transparency group Filipino League of Advocates for Good Governance (FLAGG) has expressed concern over reports that President-elect Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. is planning to appoint Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) president and Chief Executive Officer Vince Dizon.

This after reports said Dizon claimed to be the next Department of Transportation (DOTR) secretary.

FLAGG noted that there are others who are more qualified who could work with the Marcos administration instead of appointing Dizon.

It added that the business sector is rife with reports of Dizon bragging that he would succeed Transportation Secretary Arturo Tugade.

Reports said Dizon claims that he has a solid patron in the camp of the incoming President in the person of business tycoon Enrique ‘Ricky’ Razon, who is one of Marcos’ supporters, and Marcos would not deny Razon’s request for his appointment.

The corruption watchdog slammed Dizon for using Razon’s name.

“Nag-uumpisa pa lang ang transition ay may mga alingasngas nang ganyan? Hindi maganda iyan kaya dapat kami na ang nagbibigay warning kay PBBM na kastiguhin agad ang mga ganitong uri ng pagyayabang,” it said.

FLAGG pointed out that they have to beef if Marcos would appoint people from other camps because it is the real essence of the unity that he and running mate Vice President-elect Inday Sara Duterte are advocating.

But it added that there should be standards to be met, especially with regards to controversial personalities.

Dizon, who used to work with Senator Alan Peter Cayetao, was linked to the controversy over the P50-million cauldron built by the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) in 2019 for the sports event. By Lee Ann P. Ducusin
