Fisherman held for gun, ammo in Batangas

POLICE the other day nabbed a fisherman for possession of gun and ammunition during the serving of a search warrant at his house in Calatagan, Batangas.

Calatagan Municipal Police Station chief Major Ronnie B. Aurellano identified the arrested suspect as Vicente Cabral, Jr., 43, married, fisherman, resident of Brgy. Gulod, Calatagan.

The 43-year-old fisher was nabbed at about 2:30 p.m. on July 23 by Calatagan police after serving a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition) issued by Judge Carolina F. De Jesus, Executive Judge, Fourth Judicial Region, Balayan, Batangas at the house of the suspect in Brgy. Gulod.

A cal. 9MM Parabellum with serial number R 39980 with an inserted magazine containing four live ammunition and sixteen live bullets for cal .9mm were seized from the suspect’s possession and witnessed by village officials, case officer PSSg Dennis H. Mira said.

Meanwhile, a man died and his live-in partner was seriously wounded after being shot by unknown assailants while the victims were sleeping in the bedroom in Bgy. Sambat, Tanauan City at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

The victim died on the spot. He was identified as Alex Teoxon.

Investigation showed the victims were shot by the suspects from an open window.

Four cartridge casings and a deformed bullet for a cal. .45 caliber were recovered at the crime scene.

The suspects fled with the weapon used.
