FISH FROM NAVOTAS SAFE TO EAT — PBBM
A FEW weeks following the oil spill incident in Bataan involving three motor tankers, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. assured the residents of Navotas City that fish and shellfish from the area were for human consumption.
“Ligtas nang ihain ang isda at iba pang mga pagkaing-dagat sa ating mga lamesa,” President Marcos said in his speech during the distribution of assistance to fisherfolk and their families yesterday in Navotas City.
“Sa makatuwid, maayos po ang kalidad ng hangin at tubig sa Navotas para sa kalusugan ng ating mga kababayan,” the Chief Executive added.
The President extended P43.415 million in financial assistance to 8,693 fisherfolk and their families affected by the oil spill in Navotas City.
In his speech, President Marcos vowed to provide P7,500 to each beneficiary.
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has also provided livelihood interventions such as post-harvest materials, capacity-building, and replacement of nets for mussel culture, KADIWA, and fuel subsidy. PCO
