First shipment of Sinopharm vax arrives

THE first shipment of another China-made Sinopharm vaccine and an additional US-made Pfizer vaccine arrived yesterday at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

The continuous arrival of vaccines brings the country’s COVID-19 medicines stock to almost 40 million doses.

According to the Manila International Airport Authority, the first shipment that arrived at the NAIA on Wednesday was Sinopharm vaccines composed of 100,000 doses donated by the United Arab Emirates government to the Philippines on board Etihad Airways from Abu Dhabi.

The vaccines were accepted and met at the airport by Health Secretary Francisco Duque lll, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. and Undersecretary Robert Borje.

The shipment was transported to PharmaServ Express cold storage in Marikina City by refrigerated vans.

A second shipment of 813,150 doses of Pfizer vaccine arrived at the NAIA Terminal 3 and some 813,150 doses will be flown directly to Cebu by Air Hong Kong DHL flight from COVAX facility.

Out of the 813,150 doses shipment of Pfizer, some 607,230 doses goes to DOH Manila, the 102,920 doses will be flown to Davao by a Philippine Airlines flight from NAIA on Thursday.

One Stop Shop of the Bureau of Customs NAIA pre-cleared the shipment while the remaining 102,920 doses of Pfizer vaccines will be flown directly to Cebu from COVAX facility by Air Hong Kong flight also on Wednesday bringing to a total of 813,150 doses of Pfizer.

Meanwhile, another 2 million doses of Sinovac vaccines are also set to arrive today from Beijing, China.
