First Lady Liza Marcos gives assistance to typhoon victims
FIRST Lady Marie Louise “Liza” Araneta Marcos led the distribution of assistance to hundreds of families affected by severe tropical storm Kristine in Talisay, Batangas which was devastated by the super typhoon recently.
The First Lady, joined by Department of Social Welfare and Development Assistant Secretary for Regional Operations Paul Ledesma, DSWD Undersecretary for Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) Diana Rose Cajipe and DSWD-Calabarzon Regional Director Barry Chua, also expressed her sincere condolences to the families of those who perished during the onslaught of the typhoon.
The distribution of assistance was part of the continuing program of Mrs. Marcos through her program Libreng Laboratoryo, Konsulta at Gamot Para sa Lahat (LAB for ALL). ‘We gathered to honor those lives and to extend a helping hand to those who now face the journey of rebuilding,” the First Lady said.
She also thanked the DSWD, the Digiplus, the Lab ForAll and all the private partners for their help, saying, “Thank you for standing by our kababayans during this difficult time. Your compassion and dedication bring light and hope.” Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas, Vice Governor Mark Leviste, and Talisay Mayor Nestor Natanauan also joined the activity.
Meanwhile, DigiPlus Interactive chairperson Eusebio Tangco said their group will also provide cash assistance to the bereaved families to help cover burial costs and aid in the rebuilding of their damaged homes. This is on top of the DSWD’s burial assistance worth P10,000, which was given on November 4 when President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. visited the typhoon-devastated areas in Batangas.
