Final list of candidates, out by December – Comelec
THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) will publish the final list of Eleksyon 2022 candidates by December as it expects to remove nuisance candidates from its current list.
Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said they also expect to remove around 95% nuisance candidates.
“Ine-expect natin ang final list around December. ‘Yun ang final. Ang pagsasala magagaganap ngayon. Napakarami. Again, sa pagka-Presidente mayroong 97. Madami kang sasalain. Sa VP, 28. Medyo maraming trabaho. Unang tingin pa lang alam mong makakatanggal ka ng mga 95% na magfile. Siguro matitira sa atin hindi lalampas ng sampu,” he added.
The filing of certificate of candidacy for national and local posts ended last Oct. 8 but substitution for a candidate in a national or local post can be filed from the end of COC filing until Nov. 15, 2021.
Meanwhile, Jimenez also said there will be no more extensions for the deadline of voter registration for next year’s polls.
The Comelec set the deadline for voter registration last September 30 but it was extended from Oct. 11 to 30, 2021 to accommodate more voters amid the pandemic restrictions.
The poll body also added more registration hours on weekdays and Saturdays in the National Capital Region and other select areas.
