THE third-quarter survey from RPMD Foundation Inc.’s ‘Boses ng Bayan’ initiative shows solid and steady public support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., with high confidence and alignment between the President and the Filipino people’s aspirations. This independent and non-commissioned survey recorded the President’s trust rating at 76% and his job satisfaction rating at 74%, with 13% expressing distrust and 11% undecided. Likewise, his job approval saw a 15% disapproval rate and 11% undecided.
Despite a minor dip of 1 percentage point in trust and approval ratings, Dr. Paul Martinez, Global Affairs Analyst and Executive Director of RPMD emphasized that these slight changes fall within the survey’s statistical margin of error. “This stability signifies that Filipinos retain the same ‘heartbeat’ for the President’s leadership as seen in the previous quarter’s results,” Dr. Martinez remarked.
In contrast, Vice President Sara Duterte’s latest ratings indicate a shift in public sentiment. Her current trust rating stands at 69%, with a job approval rating of 63%βreflecting a decrease of 7 points in trust and 8 points in job approval. Additionally, the survey shows a rise in disapproval, with 17% expressing distrust and 15% disapproving of her performance. A significant portion of the populationβ14% on trustworthiness and 22% on performanceβremains undecided. Dr. Martinez noted, “While Vice President Duterte’s ratings remain above the majority threshold, these shifts in sentiment are worth consideration. The evolving views of Filipinos reflect important dynamics the Vice President must address as she continues her service.”
The ‘Boses ng Bayan’ survey highlights strong public support for Senate President Chiz Escudero and House Speaker Martin Romualdez, who are recognized for their people-centered governance. Escuderoβs leadership has elevated trust in the Senate, with a 69% trust rating and 67% job performance score, reflecting his commitment to an independent, transparent Senate valued by the public. The Senate’s high trust (85%) and satisfaction (82%) ratings further underscore his role in strengthening legislative accountability.
Speaker Romualdez similarly maintains high approval with a 75% trust rating and 73% job satisfaction score. Under his guidance, the Houseβs trust (83%) and satisfaction (80%) ratings reflect successful outreach efforts, resonating with communities nationwide. His focus on collaborative governance aligns the Houseβs initiatives with national progress goals, enhancing public confidence in the legislative branch.
Dr. Paul Martinez emphasized that the leadership of both Escudero and Romualdez has significantly boosted public trust and satisfaction through dedicated, community-driven service. Conducted from September 20-31, 2024, with 10,000 participants, the survey, featuring a +/-1% margin of error and a 95% confidence level, reliably captures the nation’s sentiment.
