A FILIPINO-CHINESE national named ‘Mike Sy’ has surfaced to deny that he was the drug lord named by Senator Ronald ‘Bato’ M. dela Rosa during a recent hearing on the controversial seizure of 990 kilograms of shabu worth P6.7 billion and the ensuing pilferage committed by some rogue policemen, Philippine National Police chief, General Benjamin C. Acorda Jr. said.

“There’s one personality na lumutang, me isang sumuko named Mike Sy pero hindi siya involved sa drugs. His intention was to clear his name,” said the top cop.

The PNP chief said they are in constant coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency headed by Director General Moro Virgilio M. Lazo in verifying the whereabouts of one Yi Qin Shi alias ‘Mike Sy’ whom Sen. dela Rosa said was a known drug lord and ‘informant’ of some of the accused investigated in connection with the October 4 anti-narcotics operation in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

However, it is a fact that there are dozens of ‘Mike Sys’ in the country just like the so many ‘Wangs, Lees and other Chinese names’ identified and investigated for their supposed drug links in the past.

Sen. dela Rosa earlier urged the PNP leadership to hunt down and arrest a certain Yi Qin Shi alias “Mike Sy’ whom he said had initially agreed to cooperate with his committee but suddenly backed out after being convinced by his handler not to continue his plan.
