FAR Eastern University and University of the East collide today in a pivotal showdown with huge semifinals implications in the V-League Collegiate Challenge at the Paco Arena today.

Both teams enter the 12 noon fixture with identical 3-2 records, making this a critical match as they vie for sole possession of second place.

University of Santo Tomas, still undefeated at 4-0, has already secured a place in the next round.

The winner will not only break a three-way tie with idle University of the Philippines but will also gain a crucial edge heading into the final stretch of the seven-team tournament.

Meanwhile, the losing squad will drop to fourth, staring at the possibility of facing the Tigresses in the Final Four.

As the Lady Warriors enjoy a two-match winning streak, coach Obet Vital wanted to remain consistent as they size up the Lady Tamaraws.

“We need more focus and energy. It’s all about the mental and attitude aspects,” said Vital. “We call it ‘MAP’ – mental, attitude and physical. Physically, we’re prepared, but we need to work on the mental and attitude for the game against FEU.”

In the other women’s match, Letran (1-3) will take on winless Lyceum of the Philippines University in a battle of also-ran teams at 10 a.m.

In men’s play, FEU looks to extend their hot streak to four wins and improve to 6-1 when they face ousted Emilio Aguinaldo College at 3 p.m.

Defending champion La Salle and NCAA holders University of Perpetual Help System Dalta aim to recover from surprising defeats in their previous matches at 5 p.m.
