Female workers
IN the Philippines, like many countries across the globe, women play a vanguard role in the gigantic task of nation-building.
However, in the Philippines, there are more employed men than women, according to government records.
This, despite the fact, that there are more female college and high school graduates in this Southeast Asian nation.
That’s why we commend the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) for taking the cudgels for the country’s women.
The CPD called for the creation of more employment opportunities not only in the metropolis but throughout the archipelago.
Some quarters attributed the employment of more men in the Philippines to poverty, particularly in the countryside.
“Kaysa mag-aral, ang mga kalalakihan ay nagtatrabaho na lang para makapag-aral ang mga kapatid, lalo na ang mga babae,” a construction worker said.
