Female prosecutor shot dead in Digos City, suspect arrested
A FEMALE prosecutor on Monday was shot dead while driving home in Digos City, Davao Del Sur.
The Digos City Police Station identified the victim as Eleanor Dela Peña, 54, assistant provincial prosecutor of Davao Occidental.
The Integrated Bar of the Philippines strongly condemned the murder of Dela Peña, who was a former IBP-Davao City president.
Investigation showed the victim was driving her pick-up truck when shot in the head in Chapter 8, Tienda, Bgy. Aplaya in Digos City on Monday afternoon.
The suspect, a 56-year-old man who was Dela Peña’s half brother, fled after the shooting but was arrested by the police in a follow-up operation.
Authorities are looking at land dispute as possible motive for the killing.
