Female kagawad, husband gunned down in Cebu home

BONNET-WEARING armed men shot dead a female barangay councilor and her husband in their home in San Fernando, Cebu.

Slain were Ma. Louela Dela Cerna Baringui-an and her husband, Pedro Parba Baringui-an, of Sitio Tapok-Tapok, Bgy. Panadtaran.

Louela, 45, was the incumbent kagawad of Bgy. Panadtaran in San Fernando town.

The couple were about to take their dinner past 8 p.m. on Sunday when around five armed men wearing bonnets suddenly arrived.

Witnesses said the suspects then started shooting Louela and Pedro before fleeing.

Responding lawmen recovered at the crime scene spent shells for different kinds of firearms.

Police are pursuing the gunmen.

Authorities are eyeing politics or business rivalry as motive for the twin killings.
