LUCENA CITY – Anti-narcotics operatives yesterday arrested a female drug group leader and a businessman following the confiscation of the more than P8-million worth of shabu in separate buy-bust operations in this city.

Quezon police director Col. Ledon Monte said first to be arrested was Adrian Sebuc Saludez alias “Ian,” a-34-year-old buy-and-sell man, of Immaculada Concepcion Subdivision, Bgy. Isabang, this city.

Monte said the suspect tried to resist but failed when cornered by joint operatives of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Quezon Police Provincial Office led by Maj. Mendel Casao and the Lucena City Police Station under Lt. Col. Erickson Roranes.

The suspect yielded three knot-tied transparent plastic sachets and seven heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing 375 grams of shabu, with a street value of P 7,650,000.

Also recovered from Saludez were one P1,000 genuine bill and 59 pieces of P1,000 boodle bills used as buy-bust money.

The illegal drugs reportedly came from the suspect’s contact in Taguig.

In a follow-up operation, Monte said the joint teams arrested Mary Ann Leonora alias “Mean,” 32, of Bgy. Market View, Lucena City.

Seized from Leonora were 27 grams of shabu worth P550, 800, and the five marked P1,000 bills.

Roranes said Leonora serves as leader of a drug group operating in the 2nd District of Quezon and the nearby towns of Laguna.

The official said Leonora is also included in the list of “high-value” individuals.

Quezon Gov. Angelina “Helen” Tan and Lucena City Mayor Mark Alcala cited the policemen for their commendable deeds and urged them to keep doing their good job.
