
Female cop ‘shoots’ policeman-husband dead in Angeles City home
A FEMALE police officer yesterday was arrested for allegedly shooting her husband, also a policeman, dead in their home in Angeles City, Pampanga.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, Angeles City acting police director Col. Joselito Villarosa Jr. identified the victim as PCMS Jayson Mariano, assigned at the City Investigated and Detection Management Unit (CIDMU), Angeles City Police Office, and a resident of Bgy. Cuayan, Angeles City.
The suspect was PSSg Karen Mariano, the victim’s cop-wife detailed at the Regional Field Unit 3 (RFU 3) of the Angeles City PNP.
Initial probe showed that the victim was parking a motorcycle in his home’s garage when a gunshot was heard.
A neighbor, who heard the gun burst, immediately went outside to check and saw the victim bloodied and lying in the garage. Beside the victim was the gun used in the killing.
The neighbor returned to his house to get his cellphone and called the police.
He went again outside and saw Mariano’s cop-wife picking the gun.
PSMS Zenaida Maraña, Station Executive Senior Police Officer (SESPO) of Police Station 5 and neighbor of the Marianos, rushed to the victim’s house and recovered from the suspect the gun used in the shooting.
Responding policemen arrived and arrested the cop-suspect .
The seized gun was turned over to the police.
Personnel of the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ACDRRMO) brought the victim to the PRI Hospital, where Mariano was pronounced dead upon arrival.
A verification confirmed that the confiscated gun is the issued service firearm of the suspect.
Mariano’s cop-wife is now under the custody of the Angeles City Police Office pending the filing of parricide charges against her.
