The eighth Loch Ness Monster sighting of the year has been credited to a father and daughter who believe that they caught a glimpse of the famed creature during a visit to the iconic Scottish site last month. The unnamed duo, who hail from the community of Chester in England, reportedly say that they spotted “an unidentified movement” in the waters of Loch Ness as they were “hillwalking above Fort Augustus” on July 19th. The witness indicated that they observed a cruise boat in the area approximately 20 minutes prior to the sighting, but the location was free of activity when the weird anomaly appeared.

Alas, it would seem that the pair neither photographed nor filmed the strange scene, but their report was apparently credible enough to be accepted by the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register. The eighth report to be added to the record in 2021, the potential Nessie appearance is just the second on-location sighting of the year following a witness account back on June 2nd. While the fairly long stretch of time between sightings may sound worrisome to some Nessie enthusiasts, it’s not altogether unusual for the creature to ‘go missing’ for weeks at a time even during the summer months when the site welcomes numerous visitors.
