Farm helper, 63, hacked to death during drinking spree

GENERAL TINIO, Nueva Ecija – A 63-year-old farm helper was hacked to death shortly after getting embroiled in a heated altercation with a fellow worker during a drinking spree after Thursday midnight here.

Police head Captain Ronan James Eblahan identified the victim as Tommy Madamba, farm worker, of Bgy. Maburac, Gapan City.

Responding lawmen discovered his lifeless body inside the CDB Farm in Purok Martin Village, Bgy. Nazareth at 1:15 a.m.

Eblahan said the victim was found with several hack wounds in the face, head, and left side of the body.

Initial investigation showed that before the incident, the victim had a drinking spree with fellow farm workers, including the suspect from Butangyan, Quezon province.

A witness told authorities that after the heated discussion, the suspect took his bolo and hacked the victim repeatedly in the head, face, and body, causing his instantaneous death.

The suspect hurriedly fled towards Peñaranda town.

Eblahan said the suspect was subsequently arrested during follow-up operations.

Police filed murder charges against the suspect before the provincial prosecutor’s office.
