PAMICO, the insurance provider of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW), turned over the P559,500 or US$10,000 insurance claim of the family of an OFW who died in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

In a report, Riyadh-based OFW Ricardo Adu, 50, died of a heart attack while on duty.

Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Susan “Toots” V. Ople, thru her Deputy Administrator Villamor Ventura S. Plan, acknowledged the gesture of Rizza Atayde, chief executive officer (CEO) of PAMICO or “PINOY-OFW Balik Manggagawa Insurance” for immediately releasing the cash check for the family of Adu upon learning the victim was insured by PAMICO

Atayde, in an interview, said PAMICO, with its partner Asphire Lifestyle, with close coordination with Migrants staff, processed, facilitated, and repatriated the remains of Adu within two weeks.

“Nagpapasalamat po kami talaga sa PAMICO or PINOY-OFW CEO Atayde, Sec. Ople, totoo malungkot namatayan kami, subalit naibsan ito kahit paano sa mabilis na aksyon nina Sec. Ople at CEO Atayde, naiuwi agad ang bangkay ng akin asawa ay ibinigay agad ang claim insurance nito sa pamilya namin,” said Elvie Adu, 48, wife of the victim.

During the turnover, Deputy Administrator Plan assured the family of Adu that the agency, with the order of Sec. Ople will give all the necessary monetary consideration intended to the victim’s family.

“Tiyakin po ng departamento sa utos ni Sec. Ople lahat ng dapat sa pamilya ng biktima maibigay kasama ang iba pang claims gaya ng support sa pag-aaral o scholars sa mga anak na naiwan ng biktima,” said Plan.

Likewise, Atayde assured the victim’s family that the company would give all the necessary assistance aside from the monetary claims.

“Hindi lang po cash claims ang ibinigay ng kumpanya pati po emotional, at spiritual support at lahat po ng dapat na assistance ibinigay po ng kumpanya,” said Atayde.
