FAKE ADVISORY
THE Department of Transportation clarified on Sunday that US authorities have not issued a new security advisory against the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) or any Philippine airport.
“This clarification follows the circulation of a social media post showing what appears to be an old 2018 travel advisory displayed at Sacramento International Airport in California,” the DOTr said in a statement Sunday night.
The agency added that the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) already took down the “wrong advisory”.
NAIA’s operator, the New NAIA Infra Corporation (NNIC), coordinated with the TSA, and said the latter confirmed that there is no current advisory against the airport.
The advisory shown in the image was issued in December 2018 and was rescinded in August 2019.
The old advisory was “accidentally reposted by an airline”.
“TSA conducts security assessments of NAIA every six months. The most recent assessment, in February 2025, showed major improvements and was the first since 2019 with no new findings,” the NNIC said. Philippine News Agency
