F2 Logistics moved on the cusp of achieving its first-ever Premier Volleyball League podium finish with a 20-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-17 win over PLDT before 11,314 fans at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Cargo Movers logged 18 blocks, with Ara Galang producing match-best six, to secure the 1-0 lead in the best-of-three All-Filipino Conference bronze medal series.

“Siyempre kailangan na naming kunin agad,” said Cargo Movers coach Regine Diego. “We have to lessen the errors and unahan namin agad.

More fire lang, ituloy lang ng ituloy and we are on the right track.”

Game 2 is set on Wednesday.

Kim Kianna Dy took the scoring mantle with 20 points, including three blocks and two service aces, while Aby Maraño had five blocks for a 19-point outing for F2 Logistics.

“Hindi pa rin kaming puwedeng mag-relax. Dapat mas agresibo pa kami na makuha kasi talagang gusto namin,” said Maraño.

“I don’t mind kung ano ang points na naibigay ko sa team. Ang importante sa amin panalo,” she added.

In her best game for the Cargo Movers, Galang had 13 points, including three service aces, 18 digs and 18 receptions.

The match marked the first appearance of coach Ramil de Jesus, who steered F2 Logistics to five championships in the defunct Philippine SuperLiga and a Philippine National Volleyball Federation Champions League crown.

“Tingin ko malaking inspiration talaga iyon kasi dini-dedicate namin yung laro para sa kanya,” said Maraño.

“Coach Ramil was also actually giving us like tips kapag nasa labas kami kung anong gagawin,” said Dy. “He is a big inspiration to all of us coaches and players.

Jules Samonte and Dell Palomata had 14 points while Jovie Prado added 13 points and 12 receptions for the High Speed Hitters.
