A WELDER-turned “drug pusher” fell into the hands of authorities during a buy-bust operation Friday evening in Navotas City.

Operatives of Navotas Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) led by P/Lt. Luis Rufo, Jr. arrested the suspect with the alias “Patrick,” 36, resident of Sitio Puting Bato, Barangay NBBS-Proper, along Dalagang Bukid St. in Bgy, NBBS-Dagat-dagatan at around 10:30 p.m. after he caught receiving the buy-bust money from P/Cpl. Glenn Ocampo, in exchange for a plastic sachet of shabu sold to a police poseur-buyer.

Rufo said the suspect, a former welder, was under surveillance for more than a week after they received a tip from an informant about his illegal drug activities in the entire Bgy. North Bay Boulevard South (NBBS).

After confirming his illegal activities, Rufo mapped out a plan to undertake a drug sting operation, covered with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) coordination that resulted in the suspect’s arrest.

Confiscated from the suspect were more or less six grams of shabu with a standard drug price of P40,800, a caliber .38 revolver loaded with three live ammunition, and the buy-bust money worth P500 used during their transaction.

Barangay Kagawad Monie Flores of Bgy. NBBS-Dagat-dagatan and veteran reporter Ismael “Ka Maeng” Santos of CAMANAVA Press Corps served as a witness during the conduct of markings and physical inventory of confiscated pieces of evidence.

Case investigator P/SSgt. Jaycito Ferrer said the suspect is now presently locked up at the Custodial Facility of Navotas Police Station pending his presentation before the Office of the City Prosecutor for inquest proceeding on charges of selling and possession of shabu and illegal possession of a firearm.
