A FORMER World Boxing Council champion was arrested in a drug-buy bust in General Santos City.
Nabbed was ex-WBC champ Eden Sonsona, 32.
The sting was conducted last Saturday in Bgy. Apopong, General Santos City.
Police Station 2 commander Maj. Patrick Elma said Sonsona was placed under surveillance for his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Fellow boxers reportedly advised Sonsona to stop selling illegal drugs but the suspect continued with his alleged illegal activity.
Sonsona bagged the WBF International Super Featherweight title in 2017 and WBC International Silver Super Featherweight in 2015.
His last fight was last March in General Santos City but he lost to his opponent Rimar Metuda of Cagayan de Oro City.
Police said Sonsona also tested positive for illegal drug use after he was subjected to a drug test.
