QUEZON City policemen arrested a retired army for allegedly causing alarm in his neighborhood in Novaliches.

P/Lt. Col. Von June B. Nuyda, station commander of PS (Police Station) 4, said the suspect was a retired army officer and a resident of Novaliches, Quezon City.

A report showed the incident happened at about 11:00 p.m. on October 30, 2022, in front of a house in Bgy. Gulod, Novaliches.

A complainant and his neighbors were having a drinking spree when suddenly, the suspect, who was reportedly “intoxicated”, appeared.

The suspect reportedly became rowdy and shouted unsavory words with the victim’s group causing fear and disturbance in the area.

Thereafter, the ex-Army man left, but a few minutes later, he returned and was already armed with a gun, confronted the victim while pointing his handgun at the latter. Driven by fear, the victim ran away and sought assistance from his neighbors.

Some residents tried to pacify the suspect but to no avail, and reportedly fired shots before going inside his house.

The incident was immediately reported to Barangay Gulod and later to PS 4, who conducted a follow-up operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspect in front of his house and the recovery of one fired cartridge case. However, the gun he used during the incident was no longer recovered.

The suspect will be charged with alarms and scandals, grave threats, and violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

QCPD Director P/Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III lauded the prompt response of PS 4 responding officers which led to the immediate arrest of the suspect. “Huwag sana natin pairalin ang init ng ulo at huwag uminom ng alak kung hindi kayang kontrolin ang sarili,” he added.
