FORMER Philippine National Police (PNP) chief-turned 2022 senatorial candidate, retired General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar yesterday vowed to bring the same brand of discipline he instituted at the police force once elected to the Senate.

At the same time, he called on elected public officials to concentrate on addressing the daily plight of ordinary Filipinos and not their political ties.

According to the retired member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) ‘Hinirang’ Class of 1987, there is really a big need for elected government officials to address the day-to-day problems of poor Pinoys especially since the start of the pandemic and not busy themselves working on their ties with other political groups.

The Partido Reporma senatorial candidate of presidential candidate, former PNP-chief-turned-veteran Senator Panfilo ‘Ping’ M. Lacson discussed his legislative agenda which includes the provision of basic services to the Filipino people.

Lahat tayo from the President down to ordinary citizen ay naghahangad ng kabutihan para sa ating bayan,” he said.

Asked about his edge among other candidates, Eleazar banked on his more than 30-year service in the police force, including his six-month stint as the 26th PNP chief and the 6th to be appointed by President Duterte.

I personally witnessed the deep relationship between peace and order and social problems,” he added.

The senatorial candidate said Filipinos were real witnesses to the Intensified Cleanliness Program which he launched at the 222,000-strong police force which is anchored on the ‘Broken Window Theory’ which calls for the need to immediately address small problems to prevent them from getting bigger.

Eleazar, who instilled discipline in the police force and did not condone erring cops vowed to bring the same brand of leadership to the Senate.

Lagi natin itong naririnig pero para sa akin, napakaimportante ng relationship between the motivation to run and the capability to deliver from that motivation,” he emphasized.

Eleazar has been going around the country to hold dialogues with different sectors of the society and hear their concerns. His latest consultation was with the communities in General Santos City.
