Ex-NPA militia-reb yields

SAN JOSE CITY – A former militia member of the New People’s Army gave himself up to authorities in this city on Sunday afternoon.

City police head Lt. Col. Palmyra Guardaya said the surrendered former rebel was identified as “Ka Aladin”, 50, of Bgy. Conversion, Pantabangan.

He brought with him 2 handguns, a cal. 38 revolver and converted cal. 22 when he showed up at the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) headquarters here at 1:00 p.m.

Lt. Col. Ranny Casilla, 2nd PMFC chief said Ka Aladin is a former member of the Milisyang Bayan/Pasabilis under alias Ka Emy’s group in 1998.

His surrender was facilitated through the conduct of joint internal security operations in Bgy. Luna, Carranglan, Nueva Ecija.

Nueva Ecija top cop Col. Jess B. Mendez said the said operation was conducted in line with the Oplan Balik-Loob program of the government and through the efforts of the Nueva Ecija Provincial Task Force-ELCAC in the campaign against insurgency.

He said the former rebel and his firearms are now under police custody for proper disposition.

Meanwhile, in a related development, some 13 members of the Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid (LMB) withdrew their support to the Alyansang Magbubukid sa Gitnang Luson (AMGL) under the Kilusang ng Magsasaka ng Pilipinas.

Mendez said the 13 LMB members pledged their allegiance and signed a commitment of support to the government expressing their membership withdrawal to the AMGL.

The ceremony was facilitated in Bgy. Mabini, Llanera by the 2nd PMFC along with the Llanera Police, San Jose City PNP, Muñoz Science City, Carranglan, Nampicuan, Licab, Quezon, Lupao, and Rizal MPS.
