Ex-cop shot dead in Tanauan

A 65-YEAR-OLD ex-cop was gunned down by an unknown assailant while sitting inside the terrace of his house in Bgy. Banjo East, Tanauan City, Batangas.

Tanauan City Police Investigators SSg. Tommy Piscoso, Cpls. Jhune Carlo M. Coballes, and Leo Arnie S. Leycano who immediately responded to the call identified the victim as Valeriano Parra, married, a retired PNP (Philippine National Police) member and was assigned to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of Batangas Police Provincial Office (PPO).

Daniel Mercado Medical Center (DMMC) security guard at 5:45 p.m. phoned the police station and informed that the hospital admitted a victim of a shooting incident who was in critical condition.

Initial investigation shows that at about 5:30 p.m. on March 27, the victim was sitting on the terrace of his house when the unidentified suspect on board an unidentified motorcycle arrived and without any provocation shot the victim several times hitting different parts of the body.

After the shooting, the suspect on board a motorcycle sped off headed in an unknown direction.

The relative of the victim immediately rushed the victim to the hospital for medical treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physician Dra. Marjorie Cruz at around 6:13 p.m.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team was requested for technical investigation and recovered one fired cartridge casing for cal. 45 at the scene.

The victim’s cadaver presently lies at Bayrante Funeral Homes in Poblacion 4, Sto. Tomas City, for autopsy.
