Ex-cop dies of heart attack at firing range

A 58-YEAR-OLD retired police colonel died after suffering a sudden heart attack in a firing range in Barangay Adya, Lipa City, Batangas, the other day.

Lipa City Police Station commander P/Lt. Col. Ariel B. Azurin identified the fatality as retired P/Col. Jose Dela Cruz Aquino, a former Philippine National Police (PNP) member and resident of Bgy. Ugong, Pasig City.

The city’s top cop said the victim was inside the Batangueño Gatilleros firing range in Bgy. Adya, Lipa City, around 12:45 p.m. (Oct. 2, 2022) when suddenly collapsed after taking its course of firing.

In that instance, his nephew immediately applied first aid to the unconscious retired cop by giving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). He later rushed him to Divine Love Medical Center, Lipa City but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician due to myocardial infarction.

His remains lies in state at his residence at E. Santiago Street, Bgy. Ugong.
