Ex-chief tanod, another suspect arrested for rape in La Union

CAMP GEN FLORENDO, La Union — A former chief of tanod who was charged with rape was arrested Thursday in Bgy. Bucao, San Gabriel, La Union.

Accused Anthony Alfie Gabayan y Rodriguez a.k.a. Oming, former chief tanod and resident of Bgy. Bucao, San Gabriel, was nabbed based on a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Romeo Agacita of Regional Trial Court (RTC) First Judicial Region, Branch 27, San Fernando City.

According to the police report, personnel of the San Gabriel Police Station, the lead unit, and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group arrested the suspect for the crime of rape under Art. 266(1)(a) of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act 8353, by virtue of the arrest warrant dated May 6, 2021, with no bail, issued by Agacita.

In Bgy. New Poblacion, Burgos, La Union, Lorenzo Cayat Jr. y Lumaday, 29, farmer, resident of Bgy. New Poblacion, Burgos was also arrested for the crime of rape.

“Operatives of Burgos PS served the Warrant of Arrest against the suspect for the crime of RAPE dated March 5, 2009 by virtue of Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Judge Ferdinand A. Fe of RTC, First Judicial Region, Br 67, Bauang, La Union. Said person was presently detained at Burgos PS for the crime of Act of Lasciviousness,” the police said.
