A FORMER boxer on Saturday died of electrocution while doing labor works in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur.

The Davao del Sur Provincial Police Office identified the victim as Gerardo “Gerry” Quiñones, 48.

Quiñones rose to fame during the ‘90s and has even played boxing in various parts of the country.

He became a Super Featherweight champion in 1996.

An investigation showed the former boxer was doing construction works in a commercial building in Magsaysay town when he met his tragic death.

Witnesses said Quiñones was installing the roof of the building when the material he was holding touched a live wire of the Davao del Sur Electric Cooperative, with 13,000 voltage.
