A FORMER barangay official, along with two elderly women, were arrested in a buy-bust operation Monday evening in the Municipality of Pateros.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/BGen. Jimili Macaraeg said Renato Sanga, 48, barangay kagawad of Brgy. Ligad-Tipas in Taguig City was nabbed by elements of the Pateros Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU), along with Imelda Soriano, alias “Mel”, 62 and Nenita Buenaventura, 59, both residents of Pateros.

Macaraeg said Soriano, the subject of the buy-bust, and Buenaventura, were included in the police and barangay drug watch list and were under surveillance by operatives of SDEU for more than a week.

During the buy-bust operation conducted at around 9:20 p.m. along Rosales Street, Brgy. Sta Ana, Sanga allegedly served as escort of Soriano, in selling a small plastic sachet of shabu to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for P300 marked money.

Police seized from the arrested suspects’ possession six heat-sealed transparent plastice sachet of shabu weighing seven grams with standard drug price of PP47,600 and a digital weighing scale.

The arrested suspects were presented for inquest proceedings on charges for selling and possession of illegal drugs under R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
