NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director P/Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo pledges all-out support to the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) new anti-illegal drugs campaign “Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan” or BIDA.
“With the brilliance and attainability of the program, your police force is certain and optimistic to gain better results in its intensified illegal drug operations to fully eliminate the widespread use and sale of illegal drugs in Metro Manila,” Estomo said in his statement.
The program was launched simultaneously nationwide, spearheaded by DILG Secretary Atty. Benjamin C. Abalos Jr. participated by Estomo on November 26, 2022, at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City and three other venues around the country.
Estomo said BIDA is a nationwide anti-illegal drugs advocacy program involving local government units (LGUs), national government agencies (NGAs), and other key sectors of society.
Its primary goal is to reduce drug demands and provide community-based drug rehabilitation in addition to arrests of drug offenders.
The event was attended by approximately 25,000 individuals from the DILG, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Advocacy Support Groups, NEMSQ, other government agencies, and the religious sector.
In the message of Atty. Life is truly worth living. Say no to drugs at maging BIDA tayong lahat laban sa iligal na droga.”
Among the activities conducted was the festive hour wherein all the participants partook in the walkathon and Sumba dance, followed by a dance performance of the P-Pop Generation and a street parade with the marching band.
“Ito ay isang napakagandang programa ng ating SILG na lalong magbibigay ng inspirasyon at sigla sa Team NCRPO upang paigtingin ang ating kampanya laban sa ipinagbabawal na droga na siyang nakakasira ng ating mga mamamayan lalo na ang ating mga kabataan,” Estomo stated.
